Where is the serial number on a Rolex?
Every Rolex watch has a serial number, which is a 4 to 8-digit number that helps in identifying the production date. There are two locations on the watch where the serial numbers can be found. First, inspect the Rehaut, which is French for “flange,” or the inner rim of the watch face that sits between the dial and the crystal. The serial number should be engraved on the rehaut of the watch if it was manufactured in 2005 or later.
The second location can be found on older Rolexes on the side of the watch case, at the bracelet attachment at 6 o’clock. The bracelet must be taken off of the case’s side facing 6 o’clock in order to see these serial numbers.

What year is my Rolex?
When you find the serial number for your watch, you can identify the production date by matching it to the table below. For instance, the serial number 5,008,000 in the table below corresponds to a production date of 1977. Match your serial number to the one listed below to get the production date.

How do I find out what model my Rolex is?
Every watch that Rolex manufactures is assigned a 4-6 digit model number. This number is engraved on the case’s side above 12 o’clock, between the lugs. Your watch’s material, bezel, and model type can all be determined by its model number. The reference number 16610, for example, can be divided into three parts, which are 166 | 1 | 0. It is clear from the first number, 166, that this watch is a Submariner. Your watch’s bezel type can be determined by the reference number’s next-to-last digit, which in this case, is 1. An ENGINE TURNED is indicated by the number 1. The third number, 0, denotes that the watch is made of stainless steel.

Where is the Rolex clasp code?
A clasp code is typically found inside the clasp hinge of Rolex watches. Based on the month and year the clasp was made, this code was produced. After looking at the clasp, you will notice one or two letters, then a number. The number represents a month, while the letter represents a year. For example, the table below shows that a bracelet with the stamp J5 was created in May 1985. A second “S” along with the year would be stamped on a service replacement bracelet.
